Panga Fishing on the East Cape of Baja!

Fly into either La Paz or Cabo and our drivers will shuttle you to the beautiful seaside town of La Ventana. Our stunning villa overlooks the visually tranquil turquoise waters you will soon be fishing in.

Each morning, your private Creel chef will put up a breakfast spread for you to enjoy with freshly brewed coffee, as you sit and watch the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez from one of the shaded patios. Then we grab the gear, load up in our shuttles and cruise around the glittering bahia to meet Juan Lucero’s guide team in Ensenada de los Muertos.

We split onto the Lucero family pangas and set off on a brief boat ride to buy flat iron herring for bait. Hold the phone - you will still use your fly rod! Our guides will use the bait to entice a feeding frenzy once your guide locates fish. Present your fly and get ready to strip it faster than you have ever done before! The visuals are outstanding as the aggressive, predatory fish chase your fly. Will you get to see the eager roosterfish with their comb slicing through the water, followed by an explosive grab as a quick tug of war begins. Let it run, because the battle has just started!!!

Other than these iconic and exciting roosterfish, the Sea of Cortez has a variety of species lurking beneath its turquoise surface. During our 2024 program, our Creel anglers landed over 15 different species on fly rods. Snapper, dorado, sierra mackerel, along with plenty more show up to the party DAILY. The Creel Crew will put their spin on locally sourced and gathered ingredients to prepare a variety of unique meals. Our favorite local tortillarilla supplies us with their handmade delights from right down the road. They just taste better once you cross the border, where they are made with love, precision and joy!!
