The Fishing -
Fall River is entirely fished from boats. There are great opportunities to fish with dry flies, dead drift bugs under a dry dropper or strike indicator, or even strip leeches. The lodge is located on what is considered the “upper river”.
We will be launching 2 boats directly from the lodge, and 2 boats down river. Keeping the boat traffic to a minimum, and respecting this special place is very important to us.
Please practice your casting before you get to Fall River!
You will be primarily fishing with 5wt rods.
Knowing how to feed line, mend and reach cast will also really help make your fishing experience much more enjoyable.
- Gear -
Travel Creel always recommends that you bring your own equipment, however the guides will provide rods/reels if needed.
Please be sure to let us know prior to the trip so we can communicate your needs to the guide team.
5wt rods with weight forward floating line are preferred. For streamers, a light sink tip or intermediate line are preferred.
Most of the guides reels are set up left hand retrieve. If you need right hand retrieve, please let us know so the guides have what you need.

Fishing Licenses
You will need to purchase your CA fishing license in advance. Licenses in CA are available online or in select stores, California also has a new app for your phone called the “CDFW License”. You must have your license or proof of your license on your person.
